Tuesday Night Mens Doubles/Wednesday Night Ladies Doubles
Tuesday night/Wednesday Night tennis is run by the North Eastern Night Tennis Group (NENTG).There are two competitions each year. Spring which starts in early Feb and runs through to mid-May and Autumn which starts early August and runs through to Mid-November.
Matches start at 7pm and are normally finished anywhere between 9 pm and 10 pm; however this can depend on the number of courts available at a particular club and the standard of the opposition.
There are 4 players required for each team and each player plays 3 sets of doubles on the night. Generally it is recommended that you have at least 5 players in your team to enable one person to be rostered off each week, this provides flexibility with work and family commitments. If you are unable to commit to playing each week often teams require a player to fill in. Each team has a team Captain who is responsible for entering the results on line and liaising with the Tuesday night/Wednesday Night convener.
The home team provides supper and refreshments which occurs after the matches are completed.
The matches are played against teams generally within 10ks from Watsonia tennis club and are played on a home and away basis.
To determine what section you would be suited to or if you require some ongoing lessons to get you up to scratch, you can book a lesson with our Head Coach - Cameron Maccoll.
All players must be financial members before they can participate in competition tennis; there is an initial joining fee and then a recurring membership fee. Membership options are available here.
There is a Gap of 8 to 10 weeks in-between seasons during this time a number of players come down for a hit and a chat on Tuesday/Wednesday nights. This is an opportunity for current players to continue to have a hit and also for people who may be thinking about joining up but want to see how they go.
